The Indian Air Force was established(Airforce act XIV of 1932) on 8 October 1932. Between 1945 and 1950 it was called the Royal Indian Air Force. After India became a republic, the prefix ‘Royal’ was dropped, and it began to be known as the Indian Air Force (IAF). Airforce has served the nation in peace and war with professionalism and dedication over the past three quarters of a century. It is one of the oldest independent Airforce in the world.
